Review: The Death Of Jessica Ripley

The Death Of Jessica Ripley The Death Of Jessica Ripley by Andrew Barrett
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Jessica Ripley is a home, when her ex, Sebastian turns up and threatens to kill himself if she won’t go back home with him….baby Michael is crying, a smoke alarm is wailing, so she goes to Michael and when she looks back, Sebastian is bleeding out….he’s stabbed himself?

The emergency services arrive and Jessica is arrested, charged and found guilty of murder….she spends the next 12 years in jail…

On her release all she can think about is getting Michael back…..but she has many arbitrary hoops to jump through as set by the probation service…..her Offender Manger, John Sidworth is a particularly reprehensible piece of work…and she is angry at the world….

Eddie Collins meanwhile is investigating a murder, that if Thomas Marchant, a defence barrister…then there further deaths….just who is responsible…?

Eddie is a great character, belligerent and yet brilliant CSI…he just hates people…

His colleagues, Troy who has the promise of being a great CSI, but he has a drug problem, Kenny a long time CSI who enjoys a lot of banter with Eddie..

.but then his boss is replaced and a new recruit joins and all hell breaks out….

I loved Eddie’s humour and sarcasm….he’s a kind man really…

There’s so much going on with the murders, office politics and personal issues of those involved…an absolutely gripping thriller with a dark edge and plenty of twists along the way…..I can thoroughly recommend it
