Review: Mama's Gone

Mama's Gone Mama's Gone by Leopold Borstinski
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is #4 in The Lagotti family saga….

Mary Lou started her crime empire with brains and not a small amount of violence. She is a force to be reckoned with that’s for sure.

Bobby is her adoring second husband, shrewd, a forward thinker and violent.

Frank, Mary Lou’s son…..he can do no wrong in her eyes, but he is trouble all the time…..he uses women like playthings and a prodigious drug user….she has to bail him out all the time.

Alice. Now Alice has brains….she is Frank’s elder twin, by 4 minutes but is slightly overlooked until she decides to join the family business…..she has a ‘protector’ Naldo, who will do anything for her…

When other ‘Families’ move into the area, the blood begins to flow with no one safe.

I didn’t find any redeeming qualities in any of the characters,(but that’s the point I’m sure)…..they are all scheming, conniving and violent…..in this incredibly dark, bloodthirsty gangster ridden page turner. A marvellous piece of mob fiction by Leopold Borstinski…..I’ll be looking out for number 5…..
