Review: Top Dog: The brilliant Scandi-noir thriller, for fans of Stieg Larsson and Jo Nesbø

Top Dog: The brilliant Scandi-noir thriller, for fans of Stieg Larsson and Jo Nesbø Top Dog: The brilliant Scandi-noir thriller, for fans of Stieg Larsson and Jo Nesbø by Jens Lapidus
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Set in Stockholm this Scandinavia-noir novel has all manner of grim ruthless crime, such as sex-trafficking, the drug industry and the criminal underworld.

There are some great lines, such as “ Magnus was standing unnaturally still, the way only drunk people do when they are trying to look sober. “You’re brave, you know that, don’t you?”” Menacing and atmospheric.

Jens Lapidus was a criminal lawyer and he is able to bring a feeling of reality to the both the criminal side the legal side of the story. The characters are well written and believable and while it is quite a convoluted tale, it’s worth sticking with to reach the twists and the thoroughly satisfying ending.
