Review: The Tear Collector

The Tear Collector The Tear Collector by Shawn Burgess
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Grief Hollow was the location of a terrible fire that resulted in the death of a young girl.

Running away from bullies, Brooks meets Margo in the hollow….she says the collector is coming and when he turns around, Margo is gone. But, he hears voices and sees a snake like mist….terrified he runs and finally meets up with his friends, Tee and Robby.

They later find out Margo is missing and so Brooks tells the police he’d seen her in Grief Hollow and so a search begins.

As some creepy, spooky events occur, this story becomes darker.

I have to say this is quite reminiscent of Stephen King’s IT, as it’s set in a small town with a group of young friends and something creepy in the woods. But, that in no way detracts from this atmospheric thriller with some genuinely tension filled moments.

A well written horror-thriller with well developed characters and a fantastic sense of place and atmosphere. At 400 pages this is something to really get your teeth into.
