Review: Stay Mad, Sweetheart
Stay Mad, Sweetheart by Heleen Kist
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This really is a must read, it’s very relevant for the time we live in.
This is Laura’s story, her friend Emily is vilified online after she posts her sexual assault by a Hollywood star online. It was meant to be anonymous but she was identified and out came the trolls…making her life unliveable.
Laura wants to get justice for her friend, at the same time dealing with the potential sale of her company. She was the co-founder with her friend Justin and the sale could bring them millions.
As a data scientist, Laura finds information that could help the police but they are not really interested, so she decides to investigate herself…..
She becomes friends with two women, and together they highlight and expose the sexism and discrimination they experience every day. These three women plot revenge on those responsible.
This has a bit of everything, there’s sexual assault, cyber bullying, corporate misdoings and toxic everyday sexism, all wrapped up in an amazingly compelling plot..I was invested in these characters and really couldn’t wait to see how their plans unfolded. I was cheering them along….all credit to Heleen Kist’s immersive, emotional writing. Gripping and utterly compelling.
Thank you to Red Dog Press for the opportunity to take part in this blog tour and for a free ecopy of the book. This is my honest and unbiased review.
