This is the second in the Detective Katie Scott series, while it can easily be read as a stand-alone you are missing out on a great series.

Katie is starting her first day of her new job, leading the cold case unit. She starts reviewing cases and one catches her eye….a kidnapping and assault case. Amanda had been taken, kept for about a week but escaped…but no one was ever arrested. All Amanda had said when she was found was ‘I told the truth’…

So, Katie begins her investigation, speaks to Amanda, who is then murdered….and there have been others! Can she find the kidnapper in time, will she allow her relationship to actually get going? With her life in turmoil, her PTSD is always in the background but she is determined to find the truth and obviously Cisco, her dog, is there to help too.

This is a totally gripping, dark, scary police procedural with great characters and a well defined, twisty plot. I thoroughly enjoyed it and can’t wait for Book 3….
