Review: Doing Time
Doing Time by Jodi Taylor
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
As a fan of Jodi Taylor’s Chronicles of St Mary’s I’m so excited at this spin off new series by her.
Jane, Luke and Matthew are new recruits at the Time Police…
Jane is quiet but thoughtful and has joined up after smashing her grandmothers seagull.
Luke, arrogant and thoughtless is the son of a very wealthy man and has been forced to join, by his dad, after the Tannhauser incident !
Matthew, well known to St Mary’s due to a family connection, is very, very quiet and a magnet for bullies at times too.
Together they make up Team 236, ‘the weird team’ and so the fun begins.
Time travel is illegal, so they are tasked with stopping all amateurs and their home made machines, or big business with theirs…..they visit Mr Plimpton to stop lottery fraud, they visit Egypt to prevent a tomb raid and even to Rome….
There’s murder, betrayal and the sometimes brutal old school Time Police slaughter. But can this misfit trio bring the changes needed, to show a little compassion and common sense?
Full of humour with some real laugh out loud moments….I can’t say what as it would spoil a real geek moment, but totally brilliant.
The characters are so very likeable, even the over confident Luke and there’s even a visit to St Mary’s too. A thoroughly entertaining read and I’m already looking forward to see what they get up to next.
Thank you to Anne Cater and Random Things Tours for the opportunity to participate in this blog tour, for the promotional materials and a free copy of the book. This is my honest, unbiased review.
